I had a similar problem and the SoftRobots tutorial on the tripod was incredibly helpful.
Have a look at the setupanimation function here:

I’m trying to simulate a pneumatic robot with SofaPython (actually using the Soft Robots plugin binaries). In my scene one bellow of the robot(looks like an ellipsoid) inflates using a Python Controller and SurfacePressureConstraint. The inflation is limited by two floors, one above and one below the bellow forcing it to deform when…[Read more]
@jieying , Hi, how are you? I’m new on sofa, please tell me how it went with the use of the RGBD camera on sofa?, I currently need to create an application that renders a phantom through a realsense d415 camera, do you have information about it?
I really appreciate your collaboration.
How would one do this in python, say within an animate function:
“I never captured a screenshot from Python, but if you mimic keyboard action : ALT+C it should work. ”
I would like to record video using v20.06 (with python2 scripts). And if I can mimic keyboard input it should be as easy as mimicking a “v” so this sounds ideal.
Just a curious question why do you need to have a scene in C++?
If you need this, then you will have to build your scene (adding components etc) and init, and run yourself the simulation as it is done in the Main.cpp of runSofa.
Thank you very much!
I could understand how to write it.
But I can’t compile it…(Including the tutorial C++ file)
How do everyone compile their own C++ files?
Do I have to rewrite Main.cpp of runSofa?
When this problem is solved, I’ll close this topic.
Thank you very much.

I have started working with Sofa just recently. My aim is to use Sofa with the plugin SofaPython3. I managed to install everything (current master branch version), however when I try to run the example file SofaGui.py (from https://github.com/sofa-framework/SofaPython3/tree/master/examples) I get the following error messages:…[Read more]

I am trying to create a robotic arm, where each join in the arm can be commanded a torque and it will turn. So far I have an Articulated system mapping set up where I can command the position of each joint, but I would like to command the torque. Any ideas?
I tried to write the scene file in C++, but I don’t know how to run it.
I wonder if I should rewrite Main.cop of runSofa, but I don’t know where to change it…
I hope you can tell me about it.
Thank you very much.
I want to write a liver FEM code and I want to apply a force to the liver and deform it.I want to have smaller elements at the position of force entrance and have larger elements at the other places of liver. Is it possible to write it in sofa?would you please help and guide me?

hi many thanks for your input, i’m new on sofa, how can run you scene?, i must be create another file?
@Hugo, Thanks for your reply. It helps a lot.
I’ve read the paper you suggested. And I’m trying to implement the method in it.
About the code, I wonder how can I register TetrahedronDiscreteIntersection into the factory. The error log is shown as the first post.
Is there a way to create an object in sofa with directionally asymmetric friction where that is built into the friction model?
For clarity, I want to model a system where the anisotropic friction comes from something at a much smaller length scale than the rest of what I am modelling.
HI, I HAd SAME PROBLEM, CMAKE DO NOT FIND PATH, for this on qmake activate advanced checkbox and search boost, and then i put the path in each type. similar to this image.

Sorry for my naive question, I have just started using SOFA!
I have a *.msh file representing a flexible rod that I have inserted into sofa. I need to attach a rigid cube or cylinder to its tip to move with the rod. I am using python and I already wrote the code for both objects but they are separate.
