1. Thanks for that info, I do see a lot of data available in the the MechanicalDofs folder of the GUI after a simulation, I am actually interested in exporting this data from the simulation, can you please point me to a code/example that shows how that is done, also regarding the data that is available. I also wanted to know what…[Read more]
@hugo Hey Hugo,
I am new to SOFA and I have been trying to explore the environment with the tutorials provided, I actually had a few doubts which are obstructing me from using SOFA for a few soft robotics projects,
1. How do I extract real-time data from the simulator like trajectories of specific points on the robot? How can I select these…[Read more]
No problem; I’m glad the scene is working on your end!
The original issue was that the pneunet object was bending in an unexpected direction. You recommended viewing the normals using the SOFA GUI to see if they are well oriented, though when I try viewing the normals the scene immediately crashes (SIG11 SIGSEGV segfault).
Are you…[Read more]
Thank you for the clarification; that makes sense.
How would you recommend computing the area term (S)? Is there a way in SOFA to calculate the area of individual mesh elements?
Or, would it be better to sum all the forces and divide by the entire area?
I explain a bit how I am conducting my research.
I am basically demostrating on how the soft robotic controllers can be more accurate if we have a good model of the material that we generally use… Also because as you might know, I am working for particular materials.
For a kinematic control, i started from static test on my…[Read more]
Thank you so much for the response as well as the providing the training session as it has been extremely helpful!
LocalMinDistancedoes not work either and provides a similar warning:

Thanks very much; I was able to count the exact number of nodes in contact using both the “constraintForces” vector and a BoxROI containing just the contact surface of the object.
I’m just a bit confused on how to interpret the constraintForces vector: specifically, how to use it to calculate contact pressure. Though, that…[Read more]
Thanks for the response, I am looking at the documentation for BoxROI and see that I can do this now. I am trying to get it to work but it does not seem to be working properly for me using python. Could you provide an example or somewhere that I can find an implementation of this so I can figure out how to use it?
My problem now is to effectively connect the Articulations with deformable bodies (my input ports). But do you (others) think that using Rigidify to for example transform some nodes of my inputs to rigid nodes (e.g. middle point node of my input ports), and then create Articulations between rigid DoF would help? It seems to me in theory…[Read more]
Thank you for your response, you are correct, each mesh has a different shape and the points are not at the same location. I tried to use attach constraint but because the points are not exact, the motion is very unstable.
I am trying to define heterogenous values for the stiffness using the tetrahedromFEMForceField. The issue now is,…[Read more]
I’m new to Sofa and I’m simulating the insertion of a needle inside a brain (with a mesh made of tetras) and I’m wondering if you can share some examples of needle insertion, because I didn’t find anything in the forum.
Thank you a lot
Thanks @hugo! Keep up the great work. I believe you are doing a really important work and contribution with SOFA. Hope it the future more interesting plugins and invitations will come in SOFA. Hope also the community will contribute in growing and expanding SOFA, giving more ideas and applications for the future.

Yeap, I installed pybind11 version 2.5.0 as shown in my question (10 February 2021).

However, when I run this command
Apologies for the issues with the scenes.
I’ve uploaded a simplified version of the scene to the same GitHub repo linked above, could you please try running that?
It should be self-contained and shouldn’t require extra plugins outside of default SOFA,…[Read more]
I have a drawback to be able to simulate a cantilever beam, fixed-free confuguration, with a mass at the free end of the beam. Concerning that I asked before about Problem for beam-mass simulation, I wanted to know if you can help me.
Thank you very much.
Thank you for your reply.
I got it!
However, I can’t have three collision modes(Point, Line, Triangle) in one node at the same time…
And when I try to determine the collision,
I get a warning in MinProximityIntersection ↓
Null distance contact between contact detected
This causes the FPS to drop below 1…
What is wrong？
Thank you…[Read more]
