I have built SOFA using VS 2012.
I want to test the Xitact Plugin using my Xitact device.
I enabled the plugin but i am not be able to get it compiled because it gives a linking error, “Cannot open a file SofaComponentMain.lib”.
When I checked for SofaComponentMain folder in SOFA Directory I just found one file there with name config.h which is empty.
Can you guide me how to resolve this error?

Sorry for the delay of our reply.
You mentionned the error “Cannot open a file SofaComponentMain.lib”. Is your build/lib folder empty ? If you successfully compiled SOFA, this folder shouldn’t be empty.
When you activated the Xitact plugin in CMake, CMake did not complain ?
There is a dependency to SofaComponentMain librairy, but everything looks fine.
Do you have further info about the linking error ?

I resolved that issue. Now there are no compiling or linking errors. But I am not be able to run the xitact examples in SOFA whenever I try to run the xitacttest.scn, modeler gives error that Mode Initialization failed. ans also there are two warnings: IHPDricer creation failed. VMechanismsForceFeedback creation failed.
Kindly guide me what should I do to make it work?
Your guidance would be highly appreciated.

For the warning of “Creation failed”, it might mean that the plugin is not properly loaded. Could you try to run the example outside the Modeler while making sure that the plugin is loaded ?

Unfortunately I am not be able to run examples given with xitact plugins. I have checked my device working by simply creating a scene as mentioned on old wikki pages an it only works without haptics means that i cannot load the IHPDriver component. Whenever I try to animate it with IHPDriver, it crashes. I was trying to run the example of XitactWithGrasping that was included it in the example folder of Xitact Plugin but I did not succeed 🙁 I am still trying to solve this issue. If you can guide me in this regard, it would be very great.

I asked the developers of SOFA about this plugin. It seems it hasn’t been used for some time. In our team, no one is using Xitact anymore. Could you tell us more about the error message you have (at crash), so that we can try to help?

Hi Bushra !
This has been a long time!
Any progress with the Xitact? Are you finally using it?
Hugo6 June 2016 at 15 h 48 min #7055
No I could not be able to solve it yet. But right now, I am working on some other tasks in SOFA. Once I will be done with that, then I will start working on XITACT again. May be I can find some solution till that time 🙂
With Best Regards,
